How to calculate the protection range of lightning rod

Therefore, in order to apply the formula, no matter what the situation is, many people use the roof as the ground for calculation, which is not in line with the principle of the rolling ball method. The method of calculating the protection range of lightning rods using the roof as the ground is conditional, and there are detailed instructions in various specifications. Over the years, the author has flexibly used the principle of the rolling ball method to calculate the protection range of the lightning rod according to the actual situation on the spot.
When lightning strikes the lightning rod, an overvoltage will be generated at the top of the lightning rod, which is called the "broken line method", also known as the "regulation method" in the power system, that is, the protection range of a single lightning rod is a broken line cone with the lightning rod as the axis.
